Cachaça is a sugarcane distillate originating from Brazil, famous for its use in Caipirinha Cocktails or variations of fruit cocktails. Cachaça is made from fresh pressed sugarcane juice instead of the sugarcane sirop or molasse.

Cachaça is a spirit distilled from sugarcane juice, produced exclusively in Brazil.

Rum is mostly made from sugarcane molasses, while Cachaça is made from sugarcane juice. Some rums, in particular Rhum Agricole from the French Caribbean islands, are also made from sugarcane juice. This is why Cachaça can also be classified as Brazilian rum.
